Fans who’ve gotten tickets to Oasis’s upcoming reunion shows can rest assured that they won’t be “as raucous as back in the day”.
The Britpop icons announced their highly-anticipated return to stage this August, with a lineup of massive stadium gigs set to take place across the UK and Ireland next summer.
Speaking at the National Portrait Gallery for the Zoe Law Legends exhibition last Thursday (28 November), Noel shares his joy about mending the long-running feud with the younger Gallagher.
Asked if he and his brother would replicate the wild antics of their ‘90s glory days during the upcoming shows, Noel replies [via The Sun]: “No, it won’t be as raucous as back in the day, because we’re on the wrong side of 50 now, so we’re too old.”
“We’re too old to give a shit now, so there won’t be any fallouts, there won’t be any fighting,” he adds. “It’s a lap of honour for the band.”
The guitarist also left the door open for adding new dates to the sold-out tour, following backlash from fans over dynamic pricing, which saw the prices of tickets surge from £135 to over £350 on Ticketmaster due to high demand.
Oasis later issued a statement, denying knowledge of “any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used”.
“It needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management,” said the duo. Consequently, dynamic pricing was not employed for the band’s North American and Australian tour dates.
In other news, Noel Gallagher recently pointed out the upsides to him not being a technically accomplished guitar player.
“There’s tons out there for people to be great. But I think what’s more prevalent now is you fucking see really great guitarists – there are shows on YouTube with guys signed from rooms like they were born in Nashville, do you know what I mean? All that stuff,” Gallagher said in an interview with Gibson.
“And my lad will say ‘You can’t play guitar like that,’ and I’m like ‘Thank the fucking Lord!’ because if I could play guitar like that, you know what I’d be doing right now? Playing guitar like that. That’s what I’d be doing. I wouldn’t be going [sings the first word of Live Forever] ‘Maybeeeee…’ You can’t go anywhere with that.”
